Quilting Information

What do you need to get started?

• Equipment: Sewing Machine - the only necessity. What follows are some great options.
  • 1/4" foot (nice but masking tape also works)
  • walking foot (a must-have if you plan to machine-quilt. It's a $20 - $30 attachment that has feed dogs on the top, so that all layers of the quilt are moved along at once)
  • cutting matt - this self -healing cutting board must be used if you plan to use a rotary cutter
  • rotary cutter - the implement that has revolutionized quilting. Get a good one and make friends with it.
  • quilter's pins - so much easier to use than clothing pins.
• Basic Skills:
  • Sewing 1/4" straight seams
  • Cutting accurately
  • Using a steam iron
